ISSUE 76: ARCHIVES AND ARCHIVISTS: DUST AND PAPER

Issue: Archives and Archivists: Dust and Paper

Convener(s): Laura Hayes

Participants: Hugh, David Cottis, Dolser Phillips

Summary of discussion, conclusions and/or recommendations:

Various stories relating to visiting archives. The bureaucracy attached and the possibilities for physical comedy relating to archives – white gloves (you have to wear them, sliding ladders/bookshelves.

Particularly liked story about not being able to access certain part of archives because currently dangerous. That paper could become dangerous.

The physical qualities – dusty maps, old papers and the lives contained within them ready to burn out.

Mined lots of fantastic ideas for a possible play which I’m not going to write specifically here because I don’t want anyone to nick them!
